Finally, life is getting back to a new normal. Will we be without masks soon? With the increase in vaccinations available and the number of people vaccinated, things are looking up!
Effective March 15, 2021 at noon, many restrictions will be lifted for wedding ceremonies and receptions! Wahoo! This is music to your ears I am sure!
What You Need to Know About The New Minnesota Guidelines for Weddings in 2021
1. Be Prepared
The floodgates have opened! Spark the Hallelujah chorus! Make sure you are prepared to set a new date if you plan to get married in 2021. The Minnesota Governor has announced that there are no restrictions on the number of people at a ceremony effective March 15, 2021. Minnesota wedding venues can now open at 50% capacity up to 250 guests. If you can now have the number of guests you wanted based on the new restrictions, it may be time to set the date. I anticipate things will likely open up further in the months to come.
2. Make a List of Your Vendors in Priority Level
The order that I personally recommend is starting with your reception venue first. Next contact the ceremony site since in the worst case scenario, you could potentially just get married at the reception site. Next call your photographer and videographers. This is huge since these are the vendors who book out years in advance. Make sure to call your other vendors as well to make sure the date works for them. Don't forget your hair and makeup/dress alterations. You will want to make sure your dress can be ready by your new date!
3. Call Your Vendors ASAP
You will want to have your new date nailed down when calling the venue, photographer and videographer. Many of these vendors are waiting to hear back from many couples who postponed indefinitely. You will want to ask them their rebooking policy. Please note that there may be some booking charges that could be added if you postponed from 2020 to this year. Ask your vendors if there are rebooking fees if you need to postpone again. As a Twin Cities wedding photographer, I do my best to be fair in my pricing. That being said, if we reserve a wedding date for a couple and they postpone or cancel, that could have taken a date away from a potential couple. Therefore, there may be rebooking fees.
If all sounds good, congrats! You have your new date and it is THIS YEAR! You will be the couple that has the Christmas ornament that reads "Just Married 2021!"
