THE SECRET GARDEN WEDDING -MINNESOTA LANDSCAPE ARBORETUM
Tyler, Kalpana and I first met at The Wedding Fair in Minneapolis back in the pre-covid days in 2019. We met over Caribou Coffee and talked all about what they envisioned their wedding day would look like. They knew right away that they wanted it to be themed as a "Secret Garden" wedding. Kalpana is an amazing planner who knew she wanted an heirloom wedding album to pass down from generation to generation. Her attention to detail was so impressive!
GETTING READY
I arrived at the venue and began taking the detail shots of the dress, rings and invitation suite. The bride's childhood friend did her hair and makeup. The groom got ready in another building to help ensure the couple didn't see each other.
THE FIRST TOUCH
The couple decided to forgo the first look and opted for an intimate first touch while reading poetry to one another. It was such a touching moment! If you are not wanting to see each other before the wedding, but still want to share a special moment with each other, I recommend a special reading together.
THE CEREMONY
The bride and her side of the bridal party were escorted on a golf cart. I was riding on the back facing backwards. I never knew how fast those things could go! The wedding guest list was under 60 and was just the perfect size. They got married at the Weeping Willow location. I am such a sucker for a weeping willow. There is something so majestic about them. We did have some direct sunlight where the couple recited their vows, but thankfully the shade kept us cool enough. The couple had a friend broadcast the wedding live on Facebook so others could take part in their day. If you have family and friends who are unable to attend your wedding, an online broadcast of your wedding is a great alternative.
THE RECEPTION
This Minnesota couple decided to create their own floral arrangements from Sam's Club for the tables and rented some decor for the ceremony site. The florals were stunning. When I arrived, the bride and the groom along with a friend were busily at work decorating the reception site. This was such a great idea! My personal favorite was the fresh eucalyptus! Even the flower girl gifts were themed!
The reception was filled with family from across the country. They celebrated with some amazing desserts and cakes from Key's Cafe. They couple had friends and family get involved with asking questions about their relationship. The highlight was "The Wedding Shoe Game." If you have not seen this game before, it is hilarious!
COUPLES PORTRAITS
My second photographer and I stole the couple away for some epic sunset portraits at the beautiful gardens at The Arb. If you are looking for a gorgeous backdrop for your summer wedding day in the Twin Cities, I highly recommend the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, MN.
If you are looking for a wedding photographer here in the Minneapolis area, we would love to treat you to a cup of coffee to talk more about your wedding day! Feel free to send us a message to set up a time!
