An Adoption Story
I am so excited to share with you this awesome adoption story! It all started on Instagram. Well, sort of… It actually started in high school. The love story and the connection. More on the love story in a minute. I love children, so when I saw that Tessa and her husband adopted a little girl via Instagram, I wanted to know more! Tessa and I were in choir together back in high school many moons ago. We sat right next to each other. She has always been so sweet and caring. That never changed! We talked over Instagram about having an in-home family session to showcase their two beautiful daughters and her hubby too of course!
Tessa and Charlie have been together since they were 15 years old. They met at church and have been together for the past 18 years, married for 10! They lived in Austin, TX and San Francisco, CA before settling back in MN to start a family.
When I pulled up to their home, I knew I was in for a treat! Their furry family member, Kayla greeted me along with their 1st born daughter. She is just precious! Louise was born in May 2015 and is now a vivacious 2 year old.
Let’s Get Started!
Whenever I do an in-home portrait session, my first question is always “Where do you spend most of your time together as a family?” Here is why I ask- family sessions are about family, not about special backdrops. I want to showcase where you do your living even if that isn’t in the living room. We started in their amazing kitchen, then moved on to the living room and then the master bedroom.
Their Sweet Addition
Tessa and Charlie started the international adoption process in January 2017 and brought 1 year old Priya home from India in January 2018. She is so dainty and just wanted mommy and daddy be with her. It was pretty amazing to see their special bond!
Breaking All the Rules
Family sessions are meant to be fun. It may mean sitting on the counter, jumping on the couch, or even getting major air on mommy and daddy’s bed. While I always ask first if it is ok, I welcome the fun because the genuine smiles are there!
Congratulations to this awesome family! I am so happy for you!
